Johnson Lake

Banff National Park

If you’ve already visited Lake Minnewanka, you might try this lake and hiking area. The smallest of the three main lakes in Banff area, it’s only a few minutes down the road from Lake Minnewanka, and often gets bypassed by many visitors as they’re leaving the area. That said, it still does get a lot of visitors in peak months.

There is a relatively easy trail that circumvents the lake from the main parking area. It rises up on the north side offering good views of the entire lake. Or continue around to the south side and view the mountains to the north across the water.
